. Marconi Centenary Celebrations at Fraserburgh Heritage Centre Marconi Centenary Celebratios Celebration of 100 years since Marconi set up the first radio station at Fraserburgh in 1904. International  Marconi Day on Saturday 24th April 2004. . The Heritage Centre celebrated the occasion by setting up with the help and assistance of the local amateur radio club a 24 hour station in Fraserburgh Heritage Centre next to the Lighthouse Museum. The intention was to celebrate with Marconi enthusiasts from all over the world by radio Fraserburgh’s historic connections with Marconi and the events of 100 years ago. Part of the day’s connections were made between Poldhu in Cornwall with Primary Scchool children from the North School in Fraserburgh speaking to children assembled at the radio station in Poldhu, Cornwall. The Heritage Centre was open to schools, youth organisations and the general public to find out more about Marconi on the day. Exhibitions and illustrated displays also were on display about Marconi and the amazing part he played in the development of modern communications in the world.
